Your Saturday Six—March 8, 2025

  1. Just finished The Wager: A Tale of Shipwreck, Mutiny, and Murder by David Grann (author of Killers of the Flower Moon), and wow—what a gripping, masterfully told story. It’s a brutal, fascinating tale of survival, betrayal, and the extremes of human nature, all brought to life with Grann’s incredible storytelling. If you love page-turners, The Wager is a must. (Leonardo DiCaprio has optioned the book and will star in the film.)

  2. Ah, Daylight Savings Time (which reboots tomorrow)—the biannual tradition in which we all collectively agree to gaslight ourselves into thinking losing an hour of sleep is fine. Time may be a social construct, but my exhaustion is very real.

  3. Why do we say “slept like a baby” when babies notoriously wake up every two hours screaming?

  4. The word “queue” is just the letter “Q” followed by four silent letters standing in line. (You’re welcome.)

  5. Ducks prove that evolution has a sense of humor—why else would a bird have a built-in kazoo?

  6. Happy Birthday to Milana Vayntrub, who is great at playing piano and picking berries in slow motion.
